The lantern glass slide collection of religious studies was accumulated by Mrs. Flo V. Menninger during her 50-year career as one of the best-known Bible teachers in the US. In her home town of Topeka, Kansas starting in the 1890s, she had taught Bible to 6,000 women while using the slides as visual aids, decades before "visual education" was widely adopted by educators.
