Four Poems of Mei Yao Ch'en (1967), Chorus and String Quartet

Born on Feb. 2, 1945, Frank Clifford Boehnlein attended Rollins College during 1963-67 and received his Bachelor of Music degree magna cum laude in Composition and Piano. While a Rollins student, he also received the Presser Foundation Scholarship, General Reeves Scholarship, Ralph Lyman Baldwin Award in Compostion and was a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society. Boehnlein continuted his studies at the the Cleveland Institute of Music where he recieved his Master of Music in Composition and Theory with honor in 1968. During 1968-70, he served in the U.S. Amry in Vietname as a Chaplain's Assistant, earned the Army Commendation Mdeal and was honorably discharged. He then attended Case Western Reserve University in Composition and Music History and earned his Doctor of Musical Arts in 1972. Boehnlein subsequently held various music faculty postions at Wichita State University, St. Mary of the Plains College, and Texas Women's University.

Boehnlein's musical publications include: A Moon Child's Piano Book (Galaxy Music Corporation), Handbook of Musicianship in the Contemporary Classroom (Univ. Press of America), Essays and Analyses (Univ. Press of America), and To Teach Yourself [Music Score] (Cleveland Institute of Art). His compositions have been performed across the United States, Europe and Japan.

In 1999, Boehnlein donated his music manuscripts to his alma mater.
