Menninger Glass Lantern Slides
Scope and Contents
The lantern glass slide collection of religious studies was accumulated by Mrs. Flo V. Menninger during her 50-year career as one of the best-known Bible teachers in the US. In her home town of Topeka, Kansas starting in the 1890s, she had taught Bible to 6,000 women while using the slides as visual aids, decades before "visual education" was widely adopted by educators. Included in the collection are reproductions of the paintings of such masters as Michaelangelo, Titian, Leonardo da Vinci, Hoffman, Raphael, and others. Along with 1,500 glass slides in 36 special containers is an original projector.
