This gift was made by Dr. Jay Meching, Professor Emeritus of American Studies at the University of California Davis, who in 2001 curated a special exhibition of hand-colored photography at the Southeast Museum of Photography in Daytona Beach, Florida. Included in this collection are 254 hand-painted postcards from states such as Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Washington, and others. The lantern glass slide collection of religious studies was accumulated by Mrs. Flo V. Menninger during her 50-year career as one of the best-known Bible teachers in the US. Originally collected by President Hamilton Holt, this is a collection of engravings on the US presidents from George Washington to Ronald Reagan, as well as first ladies and other notable figures in history. As many of those portraits bear authentic signatures, the set was put in archival storage after the Olin Library was dedicated in 1985.
